Course Description: The purpose of this course is to create awareness of the full-scope process involved in right of way acquisition for electrical utilities projects. This course also provides effective techniques for successful negotiations in the process and exposes right of way agents to what their role may be throughout the process. Real life situations are provided throughout the course to enable students to focus on practical applications as opposed to theoretical applications. Finally, the course introduces students to field experiences on an electric utility project so that they can recognize a problem when it develops and determine a solution, or know where to go and who task for help in finding that solution! The course culminates in a scenario based live team challenge where students apply their skills and develop critical thinking to solve a real world right of way project crisis. Upon completion of the course, students will pass a 20 question self-assessment to gauge knowledge transfer.
